Shabnam Ansari

Project research Scientist

My work revolves around understanding how Hepatitis E viruse interact with their hosts, and identification of antiviral target using computational tools. Apart from this, I have also worked on the development of recombinant vaccine against HEV. Outside of the lab, I enjoy reading novels, poetry, watching series and listening old songs.

Oinam N Singh

Project research Scientist

I am broadly interested in vaccine development, viral immunology, and host–pathogen interactions. My research focuses on designing novel RNA-based vaccines. My current work involves developing a circular RNA vaccine platform against the hepatitis C virus. By combining structural proteins to elicit protective antibody responses and non-structural proteins to enhance cellular immunity, I aim to generate a robust and durable immune response. Outside of research, I love to explore hilly terrains and enjoy connecting with nature through trekking and travel.

Brohmomoy Basu

Project research Scientist

I am a virology enthusiast with a deep passion for microscopy. Viruses and the microcosm they inhabit are my niche, and I love dedicating my days to exploring and understanding them. I completed my PhD in 2025 at the Regional Centre for Biotechnology.

Samriddhi Mehta

Graduate student, 5th year

I hold a masters degree in Medical Biotechnology from AIIMS, New Delhi and have an experience of around 7 years in the field of molecular biology. My project focuses on deciphering the importance of interaction between the viral Nucleocapsid protein and the viral genome in SARS CoV-2 infection and life cycle.

Umang Berry

Graduate student, 4th year

I completed my Bachelors in Life Science from Gargi College, Delhi University, followed by a Masters degree in Biotechnology from Jamia Milia. My graduate research focuses on development and validation of a Hepatitis E Vaccine. Apart from Science, I am interested in exploring new places, dancing, and taking care of animals. I have a habit of reading science journals in various fields. I try to follow the motto of “Combination of a Healthy mind and Healthy Body can do miracles!!!”

Sreemoyee Ghosh

Graduate student, 3rd year

I joined the laboratory in late September 2022. My project focuses on exploration of RNA-Protein interactome of the Hepatitis E Virus. Apart from lab work, I love cooking and travelling to new places.

Amit Yadav

Graduate student, 1st year

My project focuses on the development of multi-epitope vaccines for Hepatitis C virus (HCV). I am also engaged in studying the interactions of human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs) with different diseases while my para-official curiosity leans toward viral evolution and how present-day viruses might someday embed themselves into host genomes. Beyond virology, I’m the lab’s in silico explorer, with interests in astrobiology and archeobiology—probing how life adapts to altered gravity, the resilience of organisms in extreme environments, and the search for biosignatures in deep oceans and space. I aspire to search, predict or build new, alternate forms of biology. Simple at algorithms, yet weirdest in output.

Anish Dev chauhan

Graduate student, 1st year

I hold an M.Sc. in Medical Biochemistry (2022–2024) from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. I presented my Masters research work at AIIMS Research Day 2024, where I was honoured with the Commendation Award for my poster presentation, entitled: "CRISPR/dCas9 mediated overexpression of FAT1 gene in low endogenous FAT1 expressing cancer cells".

My current research interest lies in the field of virology, particularly on understanding the molecular mechanisms of hepatitis viruses. I am fascinated by the identification of their structural components and associated pathogenic mechanisms, with the goal to identify potential molecular targets that could contribute to the development of effective vaccines.

Beyond the laboratory, I enjoy playing cricket, badminton, and chess, and I am equally enthusiastic about participating in stage dramas.
